Principal's Page
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Let us pray:
Geraldton Diocese Synod
From Thursday 22 until Friday 23 August I will be representing St Lawrence's School Community at the first ever Diocesan Synod held in the Diocese of Geraldton. In 2015, two years after his election, Pope Francis urged the Catholic Church, through the Synod of Bishops, towards a process of renewal and conversion in every aspect of its being.
I ask you to keep those attending the synod in your prayers as we discuss and make decisions about the future of the Catholic Church in the Geraldton Diocese.
Feast of St Lawrence
St Lawrence's Feast day was on Saturday 10 August. The school celebrated the day with a prayer service on Friday 9 August. Thank you to the organising committee for the reverent service in celebrating our founding saint.
Athletics Week
What a huge week we have had here at St Lawrence's. Congratulations to all competitors who have competed over the 2 days. It was wonderful to see so many family members come out to support their children. Good luck to all competitors tomorrow at the main carnival. We will have a list of the results in a special edition of the newsletter next week.
Leaders Forum
Next Wednesday, CEWA executive will be in town for the CEWA Leaders Forum Roadshow. The schools Leadership team will be in attendance to listen and discuss topics including AI Informed Pedagogy, School Compliance and Capital Development.
Monday 19 August is our Catholic Day - See you all on Tuesday 20 August

Confirmation: Year 6
Bishop Michael Confirmation Visit to Year 6 Wednesday Sept 4 10:00am
Sacrament of Confirmation: Term Three, Week Eight: Thursday September 5th, 6:00pm
Year 6 Confirmation
This term the Year Six students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is the last of the Sacraments that are referred to as Sacraments of Initiation. Confirmation is when followers of Jesus are bestowed with the seal of the Holy Spirit by being anointed on their forehead with a cross of oil. The chrism oil is blessed at a special mass called the Mass of Oils and is held during Lent, before Easter. This Sacrament is presided over by a Bishop – in our diocese Bishop Michael Morrissey. The Holy Spirit makes us aware of the seven gifts the Disciples of Jesus received at Pentecost and encourages us as active Catholics to draw upon these gifts in our daily lives: Knowledge, Piety (Reverence), Understanding, Fortitude (Courage), Wisdom, Counsel (Right Judgement), Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe in God's Presence). These gifts of the Spirit help us to live as Jesus taught.
