    Principals News

    Dear Parents,
    Let us pray,
    Lord,
Let everything I do this day and in this season of Lent come from you, be inspired by you.
    Amen

    New Student
We welcome Ayaan in 3T to our school this week. We hope you enjoy your schooling at St Lawrence's.

    Y3 Reconciliation
On Saturday, March 16th our Year Three students will make their 'First Reconciliation' (First Confession).

Thank you to our Year Three teachers who have guided the children on their journey and who have prepared them to receive this Sacrament – Miss D'Souza, Miss Burro & Mrs Westlake.

    NAPLAN
Our year three and five students started their national assessments this week in the areas of Writing, Reading, Language Conventions and Mathematics.

    P & F Easter Raffle
We are very excited that our annual easter egg raffle is approaching soon – please see more information about this from the P & F further on in the newsletter.

    Great Friends Program
Last year our year three/four teachers and students trialed the URSTRONG Friendology program.

As a school we decided to continue with the "Great Friends" component which uses explicit friendship language to identify, solve and resolve friendship difficulties. As part of this program they run an online parent/child workshop which is happening next week– please see the information below.

    Mass of the Oils
Our year six leaders, Miss Bowen, Mrs Criddle and myself attended the Bishop's Mass of the Oils on Wednesday afternoon at St Francis Xavier Cathedral. During this Mass the oils that are used for Sacraments of – Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick are blessed.

This Mass is the culmination of three Leadership days for CEWA schools – Attending the Leader's Forum in Perth on Monday, Regional Network Leadership Team meetings on Tuesday and participating in the launch of the Bishop's Synod for Geraldton 2024.

God Bless – enjoy your weekend

Fruit of the Spirit Focus - Kindness
The fruit of the Spirit of kindness involves tenderness, heart, and action. We see kindness countless times in Jesus' ministry. He had compassion on those who had were “like sheep without a shepherd” and in need of both physical and spiritual food (Mark 6:30-44).

Year Three Sacrament of Reconciliation: Sat March 16th 3-5:30pm St Lawrence's Church

     Mr Tunchon's Travels
    Hi St Lawrence’s Community,

Today the group of 12 start the Camino Santiago de Compostela from Leon to Santiago. It is a distance of 305km, finishing off at Santiago de Compostela Cathedral - the burial place of St James on Easter Sunday. Today’s first leg is 26km to San Martin. We have been given a passport to be stamped on the way as well as a scallop shell tied on to our backpacks as an indicator that we are on a pilgrimage.
(Please pray for my legs and feet)

    Bueno Camino,
    Mr David Tunchon

    Railway Street (no unaccompanied children)
Please be reminded that ALL children are to be accompanied by an adult whilst crossing the extremely busy Railway Street in the mornings and afternoons. Children are instructed NOT to cross this road unaccompanied under any circumstances. If you are unable to get out of your car to collect or drop off your child, please use the Kiss and Drop option. The safety of children is everyone's responsibility. Thank you for your assistance with this.

of March 8th has now passed we will need to issue a new updated form for you to complete.

Please contact Belinda in the office if you require a new payment option form to be emailed out to you – alternatively, we will be issuing updated statements next week to all families that have not yet returned their payment option form.

    Easter Raffle:
The 2024 P&F Easter Raffle is back again! A firm favourite with the kids (and adults!), we are kindly asking for donations of Easter Eggs and easter goodies to include in our prizes. All classes will have a donation box placed in the classroom next week (Week 8) for students to drop their eggs in. Hampers will be pulled together by our wonderful volunteers with the raffle being drawn and prizes distributed before the end of term.

Due to popular demand, we have made a few changes this year with tickets now being sold online! A link will be shared on Monday to purchase as many tickets as you like – you have to be in it to win it! For those who prefer the older cash method, manual tickets can be purchased via Louise in the office.

Interested in helping out on our Easter Committee? We will be in need of some helping hands to wrap hampers and distribute prizes in week 9 – simply get in touch with Kara (0409 576 648) if you are able to help out.

From everyone working behind the scenes to bring this raffle back this year – thank you in advance for your donations!

    Thank you!
    Kara Fraser
