Welcome Back
Welcome to Term 4. We hope all our families had a restful break and had a chance to spend quality
time with your children. As we head into a busy Term 4 please remember that we are still in Phase 4 of Covid-19 restrictions and need to abide by the rules the state government has put in place. For our school these include:
- If your child is unwell, they should stay at home
- Our canteen will continue to operate as it was last term
- School Assemblies will be recorded and posted online to parents to watch
- Before school parent meetings can only happen in the meeting rooms at the office
- Extra cleaning throughout the day will continue
- Good hygiene practices and social distancing need to continue
Staffing News
I ask you to please keep in your prayers Elaine Battilana. Elaine will be having back surgery in Perth over the coming days and will be recovering for the next 3 months. Unfortunately, Elaine will not return to St Lawrence’s for the remainder of 2020. Elaine’s kindy class will be covered by Emma Ellis and Michelle Smith.
Year 6 Fun Week
Next week the Year 6 students will participate in a week of fun activities. Unfortunately, back in Term 2 their camp was cancelled. We set aside next week as an alternative to camp, a huge thank you to our Yr 6 teachers who have gone above and beyond to put together a week of fun activities. They will be having a sleepover in Horrocks, a day at Greenough Hamlet, disco, pool day, movie night, surf lifesaving and an Amazing Race.
St Lawrence’s School Code of Conduct
Fortnightly in our school newsletter, we will explore an aspect of the Code of Conduct, so we can all gain a better understanding and how it applies to each us.
Code of Conduct - Statement 1 - You act safely and competently.
- Student safety is always a priority
- A safe working and learning environment is provided for all
- An equal partnership with parents and staff is maintained
- Accurate information is received by all to be kept informed of the relevant decisions
2021 Class Splits
During this term teachers will be reviewing class splits for 2021 using their professional knowledge and expertise in meeting the educational needs for all students. Considerations are taken into account for the academic, social/emotional, behavioral and cultural needs of all students in a year level cohort with the intention of creating well– balanced, vibrant and positive learning environments. Whilst parental issues and concerns are valued the best judgements of professionals will form the basis of classes for the next educational year.
A personal SMS will go out to each family at the end of the school year to inform parents what class your child will be in for 2021.
Book Week
Book Week is fast approaching (17-23 October) and YES we will be having our annual Book Parade and dress up on Thursday 22 October. Just like our assemblies, we will record the parade and post online for all families to view - so start getting those wonderful costumes organised.
Wedding Bells
Congratulations to our 2 x newlyweds! Mr and Mrs Wheeler (Claire Johnson and Alex ) were married on Saturday 3 October, and on Saturday 10 October Mr and Mrs Millett (Shannon Clune and Sam) were married.
We wish the happy couples many years of love and happiness as they start their new lives together.
Religious Education
