Newsletter 18 - November 9

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Incredible STEM News
As this newsletter goes out, Miss Vanessa Knowles and I have spent the day with our 2022 STEM Mad winners at the Catholic Leadership Centre in Melbourne. Our 2022 Year 6 students travelled with their families over to Melbourne to showcase their award winning designs and be presented with their winning certificate.
In other wonderful news, students from 6T - Mrs Bonnell and Miss Zasun's class have taken out 2023 STEM Mad award for their Award for Social Justice - SWAGON.
“Our solution is to help people who are on the streets without a home. Over 122,500 people live on the streets around Australia. Our solution is the swagon. The swagon is a portable home and has a built in bed, with four drawers for their belongings, first aid kit and a portable gas cooker. The swagon also has solar panels that powers a mini fridge and light. There is also a tarp to create water proofing for the fold out bed. The improved wheels will assist in manoeuvring the swagon, replacing the terrible shopping trolleys the homeless use. We have added a gutter on the side to collect water for the rain tank. The swagon helps the homeless giving shelter, safety and warmth which every human needs and deserve.”
Well done to Matilda, Lily, Elainey and Billie.
