Dear Parents and Guardians,
Grandparents Day
What an incredible turnout of grandparents we had for our annual Grandparents Day, celebrated on the Feast Day of St Joachim and St Anne. Thank you to 5T who led the whole school in prayer before a shared morning tea and a visit to their grandchild's classroom. This was the first year in quite a while where the rain held off until after recess and we could enjoy the warmth of the sun.
I want to acknowledge the essential role that grandparents play in our students' lives. Your wisdom, experience, and guidance have a profound impact on their character development. You are a beacon of love, support, and knowledge, and your presence enriches their lives in ways that cannot be measured.
Once again, I would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for participating in the prayer service on Grandparents Day. Your presence has brought immense joy and warmth to our school community, and we are truly humbled by your love and support. We recognize and appreciate the countless sacrifices you have made for your grandchildren, and we are forever grateful for your unwavering love.

Year 6 Confirmation
This term the Year Six students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is the last of the Sacraments that are referred to as Sacraments of Initiation. Confirmation is when followers of Jesus are bestowed with the seal of the Holy Spirit by being anointed on their forehead with a cross of oil. The chrism oil is blessed at a special mass called the Mass of Oils and is held during Lent, before Easter. This Sacrament is presided over by a Bishop – in our diocese Bishop Michael Morrissey. The Holy Spirit makes us aware of the seven gifts the Disciples of Jesus received at Pentecost and encourages us as active Catholics to draw upon these gifts in our daily lives: Knowledge, Piety (Reverence), Understanding, Fortitude (Courage), Wisdom, Counsel (Right Judgement), Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe in God's Presence). These gifts of the Spirit help us to live as Jesus taught.
Important Dates:
Confirmation Commitment Masses:
Saturday 5 August @ 6:00pm or Sunday 6 August @ 9:00am – St Lawrence's Church
Confirmation Retreat Day: Week 7: Thursday August 31 August (Catholic Centre)
Bishop Michael Confirmation Visit to Year 6 Wednesday Sept 6 @ 9:30am
Sacrament of Confirmation: Week 8: Thursday September 7 @ 6:00pm
St Lawrence's Feast Day
The feast day for St Lawrence - the Patron Saint of our School and Parish is August the 10th. St Lawrence is a martyr which means that he died because of his faith and commitment to God. He is famous for selling many possessions of the church in Rome and giving the money to help the poor. We will celebrate our Feast day with a whole school Mass in the undercover area at 9:30am on Thursday, August 10th. Later that day we invite our school families in for an open night to view their children's classrooms.

CAHDS PARENT AND SIBLING WORKSHOPS Term 3, 2023
The Complex Attention Hyperactivity Disorders Service (CAHDS) are offering a series of parent and sibling workshops. These workshops are intended for parents with children who experience attention difficulties, including a diagnosis of ADHD. The workshops will be held online and there is no cost to attend these workshops.
Thursday 24 August – Communication
Thursday 31 August – ADHD and sleep
Friday 8 September - Emotional Dysregulation
The sibling workshop will be a face-to-face group at Perth Children’s Hospital on a day during the school holidays. It will help siblings gain a better understanding of what ADHD is. It explores how ADHD impacts on them, their sibling and family. It also helps them to identify strategies to help when feeling overwhelmed.
If parents are interested in attending any of the workshops, they will need to register with CAHDS by contacting 6456 0214 or by email CAMHS.CAHDS@health.wa.gov.au.
