Dear Parents and Guardians,
Good News Story
Last Thursday the office was inundated with phone calls and emails about two of our Year 6 students. Social media also ran the story with many positive comments. This was one of many emails I received:
'I just wanted to let you know, on my way to work this morning I saw two of our students in their full school uniforms helping a very elderly man cross the road with his walking frame at the Bluff Point shops.
They had stopped the traffic, got off their bikes and helped him across. Once he crossed, the girl gave the first stopped car a thumbs up.
It was the most heart-warming thing to see! Very proud they were students from our school!
The students, I’m pretty sure were Annabelle T (6B) and Callum G (6B).'
Thank you Annabelle and Callum for showing leadership and caring for others. This exemplifies our school motto to the forefront - 'Love and Serve the Lord.'
Interschool Basketball Carnival
A huge congratulations to our girls and boys interschool basketball team. Both teams won their Grand Final last Friday at Activewest Stadium. These teams have now been invited to attend a state carnival in Perth in November. Congratulations to all players and their coaches Mrs Katie Hasleby and Mr Stuart Gaby.
Faith, Story and Witness
As part of the new Terms of Reference, members from the SAC and P&F Executive were invited to complete the school based Faith, Story and Witness on Tuesday evening. The hour session highlights the history of St Lawrence's Primary School from its early days 83 years ago to the present day. It acknowledges the early educators, the traditions and values the school still holds onto today. Thank you to Mr Damien O'Malley who facilitated the course with me and the active participants Fr Gerard, Marissa Drummond, Margaret Devine, Jesse Moore, Paul Pollard and Leigh Jones.
Mid Year Reports
Mid Year Reports will be sent out in Week 10 via SEQTA Engage. Soon parents will have the opportunity to book a face to face or TEAMs meeting with the class teacher to be held on Friday 30 June. The school will be open for students who require supervision or you may elect to keep your child at home and bring them in just for the allocated meeting. Students will need to wear their uniform for the meeting.
The reports this semester will look a little bit different. 'C' grade descriptors will be displayed under the learning areas of Religious Education, English and Mathematics instead of a comment. Only a General Comment at the end of the report will be attached. You will have the opportunity to discuss your child's progress at your booked meeting.
More information about the process of booking meetings will be sent out soon.
Happy Days

Fruit of the Spirit Focus:
Gentleness: Being able to deal with another person in a respectful manner.
Communio:
This week we have celebrated Communio Week – a time when we have a special focus on raising missions to support the catholic aid agencies in our diocese.
On Wednesday the Year 1, 2 and 6 students were visited by a guest speaker from Centacare Geraldton who talked to them about everything that this organisation does to support families in Geraldton.
Thank you to Mrs Schneider and Year 6G who lead the school for our Mass to celebrate Communio.
