Confirmation
This week we have had Bishop Michael Confirm our Year 6 students at St Lawrence’s Church. Due to Covid restrictions, less candidates over the three evenings made each ceremony intimate and reverent. Special thanks to Bishop Michael and Fathers Rob and Tam for preceding over the masses. Thank you to APRE Donna Kempton and the three Year 6 teachers in preparing the students – Ms Natasha Zasun, Miss Claire Johnson and Mrs Anita Krippner. We pray that the Holy Spirit continue to be in within our student’s and guide them throughout their lives.
Staffing News
After 40+ years in education, Mrs Margaret Cooper has decided to retire at the end of the year. We will be looking for a replacement for the great work Margaret has done in setting up and coordinating the MaqLit/MiniLit programs. We will certainly be celebrating her many years of service to the St Lawrence Community.
Mrs Natasha Zasun has decided to leave us at the conclusion of 2020. Tash is going to spread her wings next year and see what else is out there besides teaching. We may or may not see Tash back at St Lawrence's in years to come but we wish her all the best. Natasha’s temporary position is currently being advertised.
Tournament of Minds
Well done to our hardworking Year Five and Six students who recently participated in the Tournament of Minds competition. Meg P, Jenny B, Kallan B, Laird M, Macey H, Jacob C and Millie B formed the Social Sciences team. The Language Literature team was comprised of Conor T, Lily P, Elora D, Teah F, Danielle M, Ryan L and Ethan S.
Students worked for six weeks on a long term problem to produce a five minute film. They had to write a script, create their own backdrops, props and costumes. Students worked before school, during Enrichment lessons and on weekends to complete their creative solutions.
Congratulations to both teams who were awarded Honours in this prestigious competition, we are very proud of you all.

St Lawrence’s School Code of Conduct
The purpose of the St Lawrence’s Code of Conduct is to describe minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision making to ensure the safety and well-being of students. The Code applies to staff, students, volunteers, parents and guardians as applicable. The term ‘parents’ includes guardians.
Fortnightly in our school newsletter, we will explore an aspect of the Code of Conduct, so we can all gain a better understanding and how it applies to each us.
Though every student at St Lawrence’s is expected to follow the code, we have made a child friendly version based on the documentation:
- Be safe
- Be responsible
- Be respectful
- Be a good learner
You will find an example in each classroom as to what this would look like.
