    Confirmation
This week we have had Bishop Michael Confirm our Year 6 students at St Lawrence’s Church. Due to Covid restrictions, less candidates over the three evenings made each ceremony intimate and reverent. Special thanks to Bishop Michael and Fathers Rob and Tam for preceding over the masses. Thank you to APRE Donna Kempton and the three Year 6 teachers in preparing the students – Ms Natasha Zasun, Miss Claire Johnson and Mrs Anita Krippner. We pray that the Holy Spirit continue to be in within our student’s and guide them throughout their lives.

    Staffing News
After 40+ years in education, Mrs Margaret Cooper has decided to retire at the end of the year. We will be looking for a replacement for the great work Margaret has done in setting up and coordinating the MaqLit/MiniLit programs. We will certainly be celebrating her many years of service to the St Lawrence Community.
Mrs Natasha Zasun has decided to leave us at the conclusion of 2020. Tash is going to spread her wings next year and see what else is out there besides teaching. We may or may not see Tash back at St Lawrence's in years to come but we wish her all the best. Natasha’s temporary position is currently being advertised.

    Tournament of Minds
Well done to our hardworking Year Five and Six students who recently participated in the Tournament of Minds competition.  Meg P, Jenny B, Kallan B, Laird M, Macey H, Jacob C and Millie B formed the Social Sciences team. The Language Literature team was comprised of Conor T, Lily P, Elora D, Teah F, Danielle M, Ryan L and Ethan S.

Students worked for six weeks on a long term problem to produce a five minute film. They had to write a script, create their own backdrops, props and costumes.  Students worked before school, during Enrichment lessons and on weekends to complete their creative solutions.

Congratulations to both teams who were awarded Honours in this prestigious competition, we are very proud of you all.

    Interschool Numero

Congratulations to our 3 teams that represented the school on Monday at the Interschool Numero challenge. Out of the 18 teams participating St Lawrence came 2nd, 3rd and 10th.
    A Fraction Ahead  - Zachary G, Meg P, Cruz H, Jenny B
    All Figured Out - Ethan S, Laird M, Rosie-Jayne B, Sophie K
    Four Real - Poet B, Darcy K, Millie B, Arlo M

Thank you to Mrs Blake for all of the training in preparing the children.
    Great work.

    Interschool Cross Country
Congratulations to our Interschool Cross Country Team in taking out First Place in this year’s carnival – Chapman Division. Thank you to Mrs Burro and Mr Gaby for all of those early morning training sessions, it really paid off. You can find a list of the results in this week’s newsletter.

    Interschool Athletics
Today and last Tuesday our students participated in the Interschool Athletics Carnival. We will post on social media over the coming days how they went. Thank you to our sports teachers for preparing the students

St Lawrence’s School Code of Conduct
The purpose of the St Lawrence’s Code of Conduct is to describe minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision making to ensure the safety and well-being of students. The Code applies to staff, students, volunteers, parents and guardians as applicable. The term ‘parents’ includes guardians.
    F
ortnightly in our school newsletter, we will explore an aspect of the Code of Conduct, so we can all gain a better understanding and how it applies to each us.
Though every student at St Lawrence’s is expected to follow the code, we have made a child friendly version based on the documentation:

    • Be safe
    • Be responsible
    • Be respectful
    • Be a good learner

You will find an example in each classroom as to what this would look like.

Our Arts Department is very pleased to announce that our school musical for 2021 will be Mary Poppins JNR.

This timeless story of the magical nanny and the Banks family will truly be a wonderful show to watch when it hits the stage in May next year.

Our Performing Arts Extension students are excitedly preparing for auditions which will be held tomorrow, September 18. Term 4 will be very busy with rehearsals that will continue into the new school year.

Before you know it, we will all be singing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

    Lost Property
Our lost property items box is currently overflowing, especially jumpers (all have been washed by some of our wonderful staff). Please check to see if you are missing any items (located near the stage of the Undercover Area). By the end of this term all remaining items will be disposed of or reallocated. Thank you.

    Second Hand Uniforms
If you have uniforms that no longer fit your child, we would appreciate the donation of clean uniforms in good condition to assist those less fortunate to the office.
    Thank you!
