Dear Parents and Guardians,
Season of Lent
Thank you to Father Gerard and 6B for putting together and delivering a reverent liturgy on Ash Wednesday to mark the start of Lent.
Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent we are called not only to abstain from luxuries, but to a true inner conversion of the heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. We recall our own baptism and began new life in Christ.
Lent also marks the beginning of Project Compassion. Students are given the opportunity to learn about poverty and social justice as well as pray and fundraise for vulnerable people and learn their stories from around the world, including Nepal, Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Australia.

Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to Thomas faction for taking out the 2023 twilight swimming carnival at Nagle swimming pool. Though it was a very steamy evening, the cheering and support for every race was evidence of great sportsmanship throughout the carnival. Well done to our HPE teachers, Mrs Karen Burro and Mr Stuart Gaby, for preparing and running an excellent carnival.
A huge thank you to Mr Mike Williams and his staff at Nagle for letting us use their incredible facilities for our swimming carnival.
All the results can be found in this newsletter.
School Open Night
Next Thursday evening starting at 5pm we will be having our Term 1 Open Night. This is a great opportunity for all students to show families their classrooms, the work they have been learning, as well as their goal setting for the term. Whilst at school you may also wish to visit our specialist classrooms, school library, and our incredible facilities. There will also be a free sausage sizzle available at the canteen, so you do not have to worry about dinner for the evening. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Happy Days
