Dear Parents and Guardians,
Staffing News
I would like to congratulate Mrs Kiona Craig who has picked up a permanent teaching position at St Augustine’s Rivervale for 2023. We are very sad that Kiona will be leaving us, but we wish her all the very best for her and the family as they make the big move to Perth.
Congratulations to Miss Ashleigh Keegan who was one of the successful applicants for a full time teaching position in 2023. Ashleigh is currently working at Waggrakine Primary School as a STEM teacher. She will be a great asset to our school.
Also congratulations to Mrs Megan Cockerill who was the successful applicant for a part time teaching position in 2023. Megan knows St Lawrence's very well, having being a regular relief teacher as well as working as the HPE throughout term 4.
Ride to School Breakfast
What an amazing turnout last Friday to see 150+ bikes coming to school Friday morning and filling up our large undercover area.
Thank you to Marissa and the many parents that helped out to make the morning such a success. We will certainly look at making this an annual event for our school community.
New Outdoor Furniture
A huge shout out to our amazing P&F who funded these 6 x bright tables and chairs in the Yr5-6 lunch area. Thank you to our grounds staff who assembled and installed the outdoor furniture. They look terrific.
Lunch Time Transition
Lunch time transition will commence next week for Kindy - Year 6. On a Wednesday, students will have lunch in the area they will be sitting at in 2023. This will happen over a 3 week period.
Geraldton International Food Festival
Thank you to staff who volunteered their time at last Sundays Food Festival. All funds raised will be split amongst the Catholic Parishes of Geraldton. Father Gerard was certainly impressed with those who helped out from our school. Thank you Mrs Burro (and son), Mrs Oliveri, Miss D'Souza, Miss Ryan, Mrs Craig, Madame Arangio, Ms Agi, Miss Bowen and Miss Ellis.
Happy Days,

Year 5 News
P & F Update
Preparations are underway by the subcommittee for the annual Carols on the Green fundraising event. We hope you are able to come along on Thursday 1st December from 5pm – 7pm, and enjoy an evening of entertainment with performances from Mrs Hart and the School Choir, music from Leigh’s Christmas playlist, Raffle Draws, the Lolly and Popcorn Stall, the Choc Luck Stall, Drinks and a Sausage Sizzle, Grazing Boxes and the Craft Stall. Yes, there has been a change to the date that was previously advertised earlier in the year. Keep a look out over the next few weeks for flyers with information and reminders about the Carols on the Green.
Event Donations
By now all families should have received a note with a return envelope describing the donations we are requesting from each year group. The information will also be published on SEESAW. We have requested a $5 donation from Years 3 – 6 that will be allocated to support each of the stalls. Envelopes are to be returned to your class teachers or to the Front Office by Friday 4th November. Years 1 and 2 have been asked to donate bottled water with drop off point in the alleyway next to the Year 1 classroom and the new undercover area, also by the 4th November.
Raffles and Raffle Books
There will again be lots of raffles available and drawn throughout the evening. Raffle ticket books will be sent home with the youngest child, one book per family prior to the event. Tickets will be $2 each with books containing 10 tickets. There will be a very short timeline for the distribution and return of monies and tickets, and the dates will be advertised to the school community closer to the event. Photos of raffle prizes that you have a chance to win will be published on the Parent Information Facebook Page. Raffles will be drawn throughout the evening, and winners select their prize on the spot. Just a reminder if you are unable to attend and you are a winner, please organise a friend to select your prize or the raffles team will select one for you.
Sausage Sizzle and Drinks
This year there will be no pre-orders taken for the sausage sizzle. Sausages and drinks will be available to purchase on arrival, all evening, or until sold out. This year both sausages and drinks will be sold from the canteen.
Grazing Boxes – from ‘Get Grazey WA’
Grazing Boxes will be available for you to enjoy again this year and will be prepared by local business ‘Get Grazey WA’. Grazing boxes will need to be pre-ordered and paid for. Orders can be made by scanning the QR code or going online placing orders directly to the ‘Get Grazey WA’ website. (Please see the flyer attached in the community notices section for code and link). Boxes will be $30 each with orders closing 25th November. We will need a minimum of 50 orders placed to proceed, with a maximum order of 150. Your Grazing Boxes can be picked up on arrival from the ‘Get Grazey WA’ caravan that will be parked on the oval for the duration of the event. Coffee and Tea with Christmas Treat plates will be made available to purchase for $8.00 after the collection of the Grazing Boxes. We are hoping you will get behind this local business as part proceeds of all sales go to the P&F and our school.
Lolly, Popcorn and Choc Luck Stall
Lollies and popcorn will be available all evening or until sold out. The lollies will be a selection of the best sellers from the disco and previous Carols on the Green events. The addition of the Choc Luck Stall will add more excitement this year. Start collecting your $1 coins to try your luck to see how many chocolates you can win.
Christmas shopping at the Craft Stall
The Craft Stall will be available all evening. Come on over to browse and Christmas shop, you are sure to find some stocking fillers. All the items for sale are carefully and beautifully made by some very clever people from our school community.
Special Guest appearance
Somewhere during the evening there will be special guest arriving. How will he arrive this year?
Finally, one last reminder and request: The Carols on the Green has not been designed as a BYO event and we are asking for your support of the Parents and Friends Association, of which you are all members. Please support us by ordering and purchasing your grazing box and sausage sizzle, cool drinks, popcorn and treats on the evening.
We look forward to seeing you there to relax and enjoy the company of friends as we welcome the start of the festive season.
Recycling of the old Uniforms
You may have seen some of the posts on the Parent Information Facebook Page regarding the recycling of the old school uniforms. Heidi Teakle has kindly offered to support this process as we complete the transition to the new uniform. She has done a lot of work to find some companies that specialise in the recycling of uniforms preventing them from going to landfill. We are seeking some interested and committed parents to join her to action this initiative. We ideally need a team of 3 – 4 people. We would like to have something in place prior to the end of Term 4, to capture the outgoing Year 6's. Please get in touch if you would like to join Heidi.
Next P&F Meeting
Monday November 14th with the time to be advised. Hope to see you there.
Kind regards,
Julie O’Malley
