Dear Parents and Guardians,
Feast of the Assumption
Last Monday was the Feast of the Assumption. We was also celebrated First Communion for Milla, Koa, Max and Isla from Year 4. Thank you to Mrs Kempton and those who put the mass together for this special occasion.
Let Us Pray
Loving God, you give us all the things we need to live good and true lives.
Help us to follow the example of Mary, who was loving and faithful,
so that we too may live forever with you.
We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen
Acting Principal Positions
Congratulations and thank you to Donna Kempton and Damien O'Malley for the past 2 months as Acting Principal’s.
From all reports they did a marvelous job as your leaders in my absence. During my last week of leave I dropped in to deliver a couple of coffees and was very surprised when the fire bells started to ring. Watching how Donna and Damien reacted to the situation and calmly lead the school through the evacuation was very reassuring. Outstanding work.
Sitting back and watching how the school runs from a distance makes me very proud of our school and all of the staff. We are very blessed to have each and every one of them.
St Lawrence's Feast Day and Open Night
On Wednesday 10 August we celebrated our Feast Day with a prayer service run by 5G. The day was filled with mixed activities including the Yr 5/6 STEM showcase at the Catholic Centre, Yr 4/5/6 rehearsal for the Nagle showcase, Yr 3 Fire Incursion and the very popular icy poles for everyone.
In the evening it was wonderful to see the many parents and grandparents be taken around the school for our Open Night. Students were so proud in showing their parents their classrooms and specialist areas.
Nagle Showcase
Congratulations to our Year 3-6 Extension Music and Dance students who were invited to perform at the Nagle Showcase last Thursday. Our Year 6 students watched them at the matinee performance and our parents and families had the opportunity to watch the 2 hour extravaganza on Thursday evening.
Athletics Carnival
This week has been all about Athletics, with our main carnival being held tomorrow. From all reports the scores from 2 days of jumps and throws is extremely close. Thank you to our ground staff and sports specialist teachers for making this time of the year so exciting for all students to participate in.
Team and individual results will be posted on the social media platforms and future newsletters.
Leaders Forum Roadshow
Next Tuesday and Wednesday Leadership will be attending the Leaders Forum Roadshow at St John's and St Francis. This is a great opportunity for all Catholic School leaders from around the Geraldton Diocese, Consultants and Directors to come together to learn, share and listen to each other in order to improve Catholic Education in our schools.
Triple Stream Principal's Meeting
On Thursday and Friday I will be meeting other triple stream Principal's in Yallingup to discuss and learn from each other best practices in running a triple stream school. I will also have the opportunity to have a tour around St Mary MacKillop College in Busselton.
Reminder: Monday 22 August is Catholic Day - NO SCHOOL
Happy Days,
David Tunchon
Principal

Prayer for Confirmation Candidates
Lord, you send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people, so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent. Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice. Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfilment the good work that You have begun in them. As we prepare these children for Confirmation, make each of us an instrument of Your love. Teach us to appreciate what is holy in others, and to be patient with what we do not understand. Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help us to pass it on by our example. We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
