Newsletter 8 - 26 May
Principal's Page
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to the many of you who are notifying the school early if your child is going to be away. This has made planning and staffing a lot easier to manage. I will continually instruct teachers to send any child that has COVID symptoms home immediately as we do with our own staff. Please continue to enforce those good hygiene practices as we navigate our way through this pandemic.
Swimming Lessons
Our swimming lessons have started very smoothly. Congratulations to all students for being organised, listening to instructions and for your positive participation. Parents are most welcome to come to the Aquarena and watch the lessons, however, we remind you, not to approach your child or swimming instructors during lessons. If you have any issues or concerns, please see the teachers who are at the pool for every lesson. A friendly reminder that photos cannot be taken at the swimming pool.
Let Us Pray…
National Sorry Day - May 26
Father,
God of all people and every place,
You created us equal, to know you, to love you and to love each other.
On this National Sorry Day, we seek forgiveness for past hurts and present situations
and ask that the spirit of reconciliation come down upon us and be evident in justice,
in peace and in positive change, so that the peoples of this land are accepted and respected,
are able to live in harmony, and to flourish.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord,
who together with the Holy Spirit,
lives and reigns with you God forever and ever.
Amen
Reminder: Free RATs
The State Government has delivered a box of 20 RATs for every child at St Lawrence's. If you have not collected yours yet, please drop into your child's classroom to pick them up.
Please keep your child at home if they present any flu symptoms and use the RATs provided to test your child if necessary.

Communio Week
The ‘Communio’ week theme for 2022 invites us all to “Hear our Stories” through listening and responding to the needs of the poor in our Geraldton Diocesan Community.
Bishop Michael asks each of us to also “Hear the stories” of our Catholic aid agencies and learn how we in our school communities can support their work.
“Communio” is about two things:
1) The work of our catholic aid agencies – namely CentaCare, Nazareth House, Drug Arm, Pregnancy Help, and Diocesan Community Outreach Programs.
2) Raising money to support these agencies to carry out their very important work in our diocese with those who most need it.
This week our classes have participated in a classroom “Communio” Prayer Service and a year level activity to raise money to support our Catholic Aid Agencies.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Bless all those in our Geraldton Diocese in the work they do for those in need,
Give them courage and strength to continue their labours.
Amen.
First Eucharist: Sunday June 19th at 11am – Year Four Students
Prayer for children preparing to receive First Eucharist:
Lord Jesus Christ, bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time.
May this day be the step toward a life-long love of the Eucharist.
Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.
Thank you for their innocence and goodness.
May their hands, extended in anticipation of your body and blood,
inspire all of us to cherish this sacred Sacrament.
Amen.
