Staffing News
After 30+ years, Paula Roach will be retiring at the end of Term 2. We thank Paula for the work she has done over the many years and service to children. We will have plenty of time to celebrate with Paula before she leaves.
Tomorrow morning Catholic Principal's from around WA will be meeting with the director of CEWA (via Teams) to discuss the changes and implications of the WA health regulations that come into effect tomorrow. These changes will form the basis as to what the remainder of the term will look like. I will publish these changes early next week.

Liturgical Season of Easter
The Easter season is the longest of the special liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church. It extends all the way to Pentecost Sunday, the 50th day after Easter, and encompasses such major feasts as Divine Mercy Sunday and Ascension.
In fact, Easter sends ripples out through the liturgical calendar even after the Easter season ends. Trinity Sunday and the feast of Corpus Christi, which both fall after Pentecost, are "moveable feasts," which means that their date in any given year depends on the date of Easter.
Fruit of the Spirit Focus
Weeks 1 & 2: Love
Love may be that which enables us to move beyond ourselves to desire what we might wish for one another without expecting anything in return. Some describe it as something within us that draws us irresistibly to another while at the same time respecting them.
We remember Jesus commandment: Love one another as I have loved you.
Term Two Missions Focus
Communio
Bishop Michaels' annual Communio appeal to support all the catholic aid agencies in our diocese.
Communio Week will be celebrated with awareness activities and Mass during week five of this term.
Thank you for all your generosity towards our term one focus: Project Compassion
Sacrament of Eucharist – Year Four, Week Eight: Sunday June 19 11:00am
This term our year four students will be prepared to make their First Eucharist which is what was previously called "First Holy Communion". This is a time when we prepare the children to receive Jesus' body (host) in the form of communion for the first time. Receiving communion regularly gives people the strength and nourishment they need to reflect and model Jesus in all their actions.
Important Dates for Year Four
First Eucharist Retreat Day: Thursday May 5th at Bill Helmsley Community Centre, White Peak
First Eucharist Commitment Masses: Sat May 14th 6pm or Sunday May 15th 9am at St Lawrence's Church.
Year Four Reconciliation: Thursday June 16th at school
Children are cleansed from any wrongdoings before they receive a Sacrament so that they are in a 'state of grace'.
The Sacrament of First Eucharist: Sunday June 19th, 11am
Mass to be held in the school undercover area.
Note: This is seen as very special occasion and children are encouraged to dress in their best clothing preferably in light colours.

Mary's Kiss and Drop
Please remember that if you use the area in front of the church to drop off and pick up your children then this is a NO stopping zone - parents are asked not to get out of their cars as this causes traffic congestion on Chapman Road. We also request that all families use the provided surname dash signs to help locate children for cars to allow for a smooth flow of traffic. Thank you for respecting the crosswalk in front of the church.
New Uniform
The new uniform is now on display at the office - please feel free to pop in and have a look. Items from the new uniform range should start to roll out from Total Uniforms beginning approximately Week 2 of Term 2, however some items will take longer due to manufacturing processes. Easter Raffle 2022
Our first fundraiser for the year has been a great success. Thankyou St Lawrence’s School Community for your generosity and support of the 2022 Easter Raffle. Your support enabled tickets to be drawn to win from a pool of 371 prizes and a large basket of Easter goodies to be prepared for donation to make things a little brighter at the Women’s Refuge. Hopefully you caught the pictures of the colourful array of prizes and the beautiful basket that were posted on the pages of our social media in Week 10. Congratulations to all winners and we hope you enjoyed your prizes over the Easter and holiday break.
A very big thank you must go to Heidi Teakle and Sarah Murray who took over the coordination of the Easter Raffle this year, where the organisation was exceptional. I would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the parents of the subcommittee who generously gave their time to support the fundraiser over the course of Week 10 transforming the donations into such wonderful prizes. Thankyou to Michelle Ralph, Amanda McKenzie, Amber Gratte, Christine Auld, Donna Natalie, Jess Rose, Lara Stewart, Sally Marshall and Vanessa Heinrich. You have done such a wonderful job in supporting Heidi and Sarah and assisting to make the fundraiser such a success. Thankyou also to Margaret Devine and Dee Watts for looking after all things financial.
Disco 2022
Our next event is the School Disco. We have asked you to save the date for Thursday 2nd June. Nadine Smith will coordinate the subcommittee for the Disco again and they have started preparing. The Disco is being held on Thursday of Week 6, as the next day is a Pupil Free day that runs into the WA Day long weekend.
More details regarding venue, year groupings and times will be released soon after the next COVID updates on Friday. At this stage we plan to go ahead and will keep the school community informed through the Parent Information Group and Seesaw. If you would like to assist the subcommittee with the Disco, please get in touch with Nadine and let her know how you can help.
