Uniform Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Way back in July 2021 a school uniform committee was formed to review the current school uniform. The committee consisted of representatives from the SAC, P&F, teachers, EA’s and the school leadership team. A survey was put out to all parents, staff and students. The results of the survey were then collated and it was decided that a new uniform would be designed and rolled out over the coming year using our existing school colours.
With the help of Nick Knight from Total Uniforms, a variety of designs were presented. This week the uniform committee voted in the new uniform. A rough timeline for the new uniforms is shown below - it is hoped that all items from the new uniform range will be available to purchase in Semester 2.
I would like to thank Clare Venturini, Melissa Smith, Nat Partington, Fiona Brennan, Lauren Waldock, Sharon MacDonald, Donna Kempton and Damien O’Malley for the many meetings, discussions, and working with me in what was a very important process and decision for St Lawrence’s Primary School.
Kind regards,
David Tunchon
Principal

TIMEFRAME & AVAILABILITY
Items from the new uniform range should start to roll out from Total Uniforms beginning approximately Week 2 of Term 2, however some items will take longer due to manufacturing processes. Please see below for the expected timeline:
The above ETA's are only an estimate, and some items may arrive sooner - we will advise as they become available for purchase through Total Uniforms. We hope to have some samples of the new uniform on display in our office early in Term 2.
UNIFORM POLICY & TRANSITION
Students are permitted to begin wearing the new items as soon as they become available, and are allowed to mix-and-match (i.e. new polo with past sports shorts) until the end of the uniform transition period, which will be Semester 2, 2023.
School shoe requirements will be as per the current uniform guidelines - an all black sneaker or school shoe - but we will be updating the policy to allow for either brown OR black sandals, due to the limited selection available in regional areas.
As we have simplified the uniform range, the winter uniform will be the everyday polo, jacket and the addition of plain black tracksuit pants for both boys and girls if required. Again, any mix of the old and new uniforms is acceptable.
Sports faction polos will remain unchanged, and will still be worn 2 x days per week with either the old or new sports shorts until the transition is complete next year.
The new everyday polos will be worn for all Interschool carnivals and events.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
School photos will be taken on 22nd & 23rd June, and the following is preferred for the day:
- Kindy & Pre-Primary can wear free dress as usual or their Little Lawrie's t-shirts
- Year 1 to 5 to wear their faction sports polo (where possible)
- Year 6 to wear their Leavers shirts
